Today, the internet and its related technologies make many things possible. Viral marketing tips, is a new phrase that has only been made possible by the advent of computers and the internet. By using digital technology, the spoken or written word can now be used for new and exciting things.

First of all, marketers can now use digital technology and the internet to pass on information that will not only educate the viewer or listener, but will prompt the recipient to take a desired action. So in fact, an e-book (electronic book) can now become your private salesman doing your bidding in digital cyberspace. Imagine that!

Here are a few viral marketing tips that should help you snag your first sale and develop your skills as a marketer. Marketing E-books contain text, images, links to web pages and navigation controls. The marketing E-book has become a very important part of marketing on the Internet. Did you know that you can use one of these viral marketing e-books and create a lucrative income just by giving away a free e-book?

Viral Marketing is easier than you think. Read on. You see, with an E-book you can present your story in an effective and compelling way, giving your reader valuable information in the process. Then, if the reader likes the ideas in the e-book, and would like to benefit from them, he can use those same viral marketing tools to make some money, giving away the same book, with only a few changes.

In allowing each reader to get a customized copy of the e-book, he or she can derive financial benefits from passing the book along. Technology is now available to allow each person in the chain, to get paid for spreading the word. The creator of the e-book will of course retain some links in the e-book, but others will be customizable for each person who gets the book and is prepared to pay a small price. And since the e-book is always free, only those who wish to make a profit from the e-book are asked to pay. This allows the e-book to gain it’s viral characteristic. Read the rest of this entry »

The Medium and the Message

A debate is raging in e-publishing circles: should content be encrypted and protected (the Barnes and Noble or Digital goods model) – or should it be distributed freely and thus serve as a form of viral marketing (Seth Godin’s “ideavirus”)? Publishers fear that freely distributed and cost-free “cracked” e-books will cannibalize print books to oblivion.

The more paranoid point at the music industry. It failed to co-opt the emerging peer-to-peer platforms (Napster) and to offer a viable digital assets management system with an equitable sharing of royalties. The results? A protracted legal battle and piracy run amok. “Publishers” – goes this creed – “are positioned to incorporate encryption and protection measures at the very inception of the digital publishing industry. They ought to learn the lesson.”

But this view ignores a vital difference between sound and text. In music, what matter are the song or the musical piece. The medium (or carrier, or packing) is marginal and interchangeable. A CD, an audio cassette, or an MP3 player are all fine, as far as the consumer is concerned. The listener bases his or her purchasing decisions on sound quality and the faithfulness of reproduction of the listening experience (for instance, in a concert hall). This is a very narrow, rational, measurable and quantifiable criterion.

Not so with text.

Content is only one element of many of equal footing underlying the decision to purchase a specific text-”carrier” (medium). Various media encapsulating IDENTICAL text will still fare differently. Hence the failure of CD-ROMs and e-learning. People tend to consume content in other formats or media, even if it is fully available to them or even owned by them in one specific medium. People prefer to pay to listen to live lectures rather than read freely available online transcripts. Libraries buy print journals even when they have subscribed to the full text online versions of the very same publications. And consumers overwhelmingly prefer to purchase books in print rather than their e-versions. Read the rest of this entry »

Slogans and Weasel Words: You surely might have observed that slogans are more commonly used in promotional advertising methods. Along with these catchy slogans, weasel words are also used to attract people for buying products.

Celebrities: People tend to buy products which are claimed or shown to be used by their favorite celebrities. This is why advertisements of branded products show celebrities or famous personalities using the products.

Kids and Superheroes: Attractive advertisements can effectively be used to induce viewers to think of buying the goods advertised. And involving kids and superheroes in product advertisements is probably the best advertisement technique for doing so.

Concepts that Make us Feel Good: A majority of viewers opt for purchasing the product, not because they need it, but simply because the advertisement makes them feel good and think differently. This is one of the most common advertising techniques used in marketing.

Real Life Situations: Some advertisements make people relate the product benefits to the problems they are facing. This in turn makes the product seem useful and necessary, which is why it is sold in large amounts.

Attractive Toys: If kids’ toys are being advertised, the company makes an advertisement wherein kids play a major role. This may make the kids, who view the advertisements, feel good about owning those particular products. And so, kids may ask their parents get those toys any how.

Beauty: Every one is attracted to beauty, which is one of the common advertising techniques. Beautiful women are used in advertisements, which are specifically fashion or beauty related.

Music Effects: Music is also one of the most common advertising techniques used in commercials for latest gadgets. Good music in the TV commercial in fact serves as an indirect advertiser for the product. Read the rest of this entry »
