Soul Searching

Developing an internet business is not that easy that you often think. On the other hand, as an internet entrepreneur, your ultimate goal is to achieve your desired success. Statistics show that, most of the internet entrepreneurs don’t get their aspired result though they try hard.

I personally think that, making money online with an internet business is not really easy. It needs work smarter rather work harder. As an internet entrepreneur you have to combine your business strategies in order to develop your internet business. If you stick only to a strategy and spend more time on that without even thinking of implementing other strategies, you won’t’ get success though you work hard.

Another thing that you must remember is that, there are no magical methods of getting overnight success in internet business. I know you have already heard that there are some automated methods online that ensure that your online earnings would be automated and you don’t even need to take care of it. If it was that easy, every internet entrepreneur would get their desired success.

It’s true that as an internet entrepreneur, you will encounter a number of obstacles. The largest obstacle that you will often encounter is the FEAR of taking proper and accurate actions, fear of doing something, fear of getting unsuccessful, fear of not making money online etc. However, fear is considered to be the root of failure.

Furthermore, I can say that, as an internet entrepreneur, you should be confident and never ever fear to take proper actions. However, take the proper steps to overcome the fear and ultimately you will get closer to obtaining your desired success. On the other hand, as long as, you keep trying, you will never fail. Follow you heart, be confident and keep trying.

Initial Expenses

There are several things that you need to take into consideration when you’re choosing a domain name. By the time you are considering buying your own domain name you should already be familiar with keywords and search engine optimization. Try to include the keywords that you are going to optimize the home page of your web site for in your domain name. Instead of running several words together use a hyphen between words. There are an almost unimaginable number of places that you can buy a domain name, all of which are relatively inexpensive. In my experience it is best to choose one of the larger companies like GoDaddy because they are equipped to provide you with the best support.

I initially tried another company whose web site looked far more serious and businesslike when I bought my first domain name but I ended up finding that they were truly professional and expected me to be. They expected me to have knowledge and skills that, as a beginner, I just did not have. I spent almost a week wading through a swamp of techno babble just trying to figure out how to get my web site connected to my domain name. Probably a good educational experience but, something I really didn’t need to do at the time.

What I bought my second domain name I went to GoDaddy and found all the support I need to get online quickly.

The second item, hosting, raises some question as to whether you really need to buy it or not. Most companies that you will buy a domain name from will supply you with free hosting but the price for that free hosting is living with ads on your web site from the domain name provider. On my first two web sites I went ahead and use the free hosting and found that the ads were not all that obnoxious. When you’re first starting out free hosting is a good way to go to keep your overhead low. When you start to make a little money will probably want to give consideration to paid hosting. It’s not really all that expensive and, on the whole, will give your web site a more professional appearance.

The third item on the list, an auto responder, is an absolute must if you are serious about Internet Marketing. Your auto responder is the tool you we used to build your list. The day has long since passed when you could drive traffic directly to a sales page and expect a person to buy. It just does not happen. You use your auto responder to build a list and you use your list for an e-mail campaign that you use to nurture your relationship with your customer. You should provide your potential customer with good useful advice filed with facts and information they can use in your e-mails.

Only after you have built a relationship of trust with your customer and established yourself as an authority do you want to gently lead them to the product that you are trying to sell.

Your choice of an auto responder is important. Almost all of them will provide you with a free or inexpensive trial period. During that time, usually a month that you are trying out the auto responder make sure that it offers the features that you want. My personal choice is Aweber which is feature filled and at $19 a month well worth the cost.

Print Advertising – Newspapers, Magazines, Brochures, Fliers

The print media have always been a popular advertising medium. Advertising products via newspapers or magazines is a common practice. In addition to this, the print media also offers options like promotional brochures and fliers for advertising purposes. Often the newspapers and the magazines sell the advertising space according to the area occupied by the advertisement, the position of the advertisement (front page/middle page), as well as the readership of the publications. For instance an advertisement in a relatively new and less popular newspaper would cost far less than placing an advertisement in a popular newspaper with a high readership. The price of print ads also depend on the supplement in which they appear, for example an advertisement in the glossy supplement costs way higher than that in the newspaper supplement which uses a mediocre quality paper.

Outdoor Advertising – Billboards, Kiosks, Tradeshows and Events

Outdoor advertising is also a very popular form of advertising, which makes use of several tools and techniques to attract the customers outdoors. The most common examples of outdoor advertising are billboards, kiosks, and also several events and tradeshows organized by the company. The billboard advertising is very popular however has to be really terse and catchy in order to grab the attention of the passers by. The kiosks not only provide an easy outlet for the company products but also make for an effective advertising tool to promote the company’s products. Organizing several events or sponsoring them makes for an excellent advertising opportunity. The company can organize trade fairs, or even exhibitions for advertising their products. If not this, the company can organize several events that are closely associated with their field. For instance a company that manufactures sports utilities can sponsor a sports tournament to advertise its products.

Advertising 3.0

In what started out as a way for people to keep in touch and share their favorite music, social networking has become the kind of medium that no one ever thought TV could become. It goes so much beyond what television ever envisioned. It’s interactive, global and user generated on nearly every level. There is no programming, no corporate voice and no sense of gloss.

Of course, big business has done its best in recent years to remedy that by buying out the biggest networks and slapping a million ads on every page they can find. No one disagrees that the nearly 200 million registered users on a site like Myspace are the ideal demographic for just about everything. Just seeing what Myspace was able to do to the music industry is evidence enough of that.

However, in my year or so of interaction with Myspace and the individuals who are trying to use it to build fan bases, I have come away with a few interesting perspectives.

     Corporate or Not?

First off, the questions that would traditionally apply to advertising and new marketing space don’t quite fit with the world of social networking. We’re not talking about static space anymore. This isn’t a billboard on the corner of 1st and Pine or a television spot in the first five minutes of a football game. This is the internet, where nearly 70% of the world’s population has spent some small portion of their time. Markets are no longer measured as much by gender, age and viewing habits, but by the languages we speak and the pages we access. (more…)
